Coleford is a small town in the Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire. The town has a range of shops, bars and restaurants and is just four miles from the Welsh border. The Royal Forest of Dean is England’s largest oak forest and is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The forest offers numerous trails that can be explored on foot, by bicycle or by horseback. Close to Coleford is the town of Lydney which sits on the banks of the River Severn and is in an area that is a delight for birdwatchers and wildlife enthusiasts. Just a short drive away, in the historic waterfront city of Gloucester, you will find Roman foundations, Victorian Docklands and a spectacular Norman Cathedral (whose cloisters were used as a location in the Harry Potter films).
